Rachel King was lucky enough to attend the National Producers Alliances’ screening of How To Be in London this evening! She was kind enough to write up a review of the film as well as give us insight as to what went on during the Q & A session after:
Movie Review:
Immensely funny and awkward, How To Be, is a movie about every young person who’s felt out of place. Throughout the movie we are faced with the both pathetic and sympathetic character of Art; painfully uncomfortable in his own skin, he is who we could all be, with just a little push in the wrong direction. Dropped by his girlfriend and with a strained parental relationship, Art attempts to better himself with the help of Dr. Ellington, a self-help guru Art hires to be his personal therapist. Some of more humorous scenes result from Art following Dr. Ellington’s “advice” which in the end turns out to cause more problems than it fixes. At the emotional climax of the movie viewers realize that, above everything else, the film is incredibly true; we grasp that probably all of Art’s life, all of our lives, have just been leading up to a huge, drunken tantrum and that afterwards, we have to figure out what to do with the pieces left over. A film insanely perfect for Generation Y, and anyone who’s ever thought, you just don’t understand me.
Willamette Week posted a very humorous Twilight related article in which you can read right here. The article also includes a brand new shot of Rob from the set!
I was lucky enough to be able to meet Stephenie Meyer, Catherine Hardwick, and members of the cast at Comic-Con as well as to receive a signed poster for the site. I just placed a photo of the poster in the gallery.
If anyone is going to the How to Be screening in London on August 7th at 7pm at the Charlotte Street Hotel please e-mail the site asap at admin.po.net@gmail.com.
TeenHollywood.com recently posted up an interview with Rob and his Twilight co-star Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria). An excerpt is below:
TeenHollywood: When you did finally read the book, did you think, “Well, I’m really beautiful, so I’d be good at this”? How do you live up to the expectations with the character description in the book?
Robert: The casting people talked to me and said, “Read the book.” I did and I just thought, “This is really dumb. It’s just so pointless, even going up for it,” which is what a lot of the fans said. [Laughing] After I initially got cast, it was like, “He wasn’t even on the short list.” It was really left-field casting. It is kind of weird. I spent a long time, thinking, “How can I take the whole beautiful thing as an interpretation?” I realized that it’s just Bella saying that he’s so beautiful, and she’s in love with him and obsessed with him. He could be a piece of cheese and she’d say the same thing.
The entire interview can be read here in our Press section.
TVGuide.com also posted a very short clip of Rob in which he explains once again of his experience at the Comic Con:
About a week ago, I got together with Tara, Marisa, and Tasha (all staff members who attended Comic-Con) and we decided to do a “podcast” to report about our time there…instead of four long and boring separate reports! It’s hosted on our server for those of you who would like to dl it. Remember to right click and save-as!
We have four extra Twilight card packs that for you guys to win! The contest is open to anyone who wants to enter. We are looking for possible new banners for our forum…so whip out the image editing software of your choice and be creative! One entry per person please! Submit all entries to the site email: admin.po.net@gmail.com
Hot Topic has added two new t-shirts into their Twilight collection. One of the t-shirts has a print of Edward and Bella (see below for front and back detail) and the second is the Twilight logo available in plus size.
The following news on Little Ashes is from a source directly linked to the film:
Thanks for your interest in this terrific new movie. We love this film!
Independent films are totally at the mercy of the theater bookers, so every fan letter/email to a theater chain and local manager is more helpful than can be imagined. They determine the interest by their customers and decide if the movie can draw an audience.
These are the chains that are most likely to play an independent movie.
Landmark, Regal, AMC, Carmike, Cinemark, National Amusements
This year there are more movies released than ever before. Head offices that are flooded with requests for one particular film to play in cities all over the country would have a reason to be interested. Emails and letters to local theaters that would play this (most likely your local art cinema) will make bookings easier, too.
There will be more information in the coming weeks on the official website!
