In this interview Rob did while in the UK last month, he talks about the extremes some fans go to when meeting him, and his reaction to it. At the very end of the interview he talks about looking forward to spending time away from the spotlight while back home in London. We hope he’s getting his wish.
Just to clear up the rumors that have apparently been flying around, Rob will NOT be attending the screenings of How To Be in Jakarta. Apparently some fans have been bombarding the screening organizers with emails and phone calls, and they have asked us to let you know that Rob will NOT be there.
The good news is that they’re adding more screenings:
The screenings are filled… so many people want to watch the film that we have to add another date.
So now the screening is going to take place on three different dates: 9th, 15th, and 16th of January.
We’ve also organize a VIP screening for press and a distributor which will take place on the 8th.
You may also be aware that among the three actors, the only missing interview is with Rob Pattinson. Rest assured that the team is doing the best to come up with a comprehensive interview that will include detailed discussions of Rob’s role as Salvador Dali, some new and exciting news about his career as an actor and perhaps a few tidbits about Rob- the man.
There’s also a teaser clip #2 on the official movie site you may want to watch again. Check it out here.
And as I was posting this, Larry Carroll over at MTVposted a new article that names Little Ashes as the second most anticipated movie of 2009 from the Twilight cast. Second only of course, to New Moon.
2. “Little Ashes” We know him as Spunk Ransom, we know him as RPattz, and in 2008 we came to know Robert Pattinson as a hair-raising, riot-causing international superstar. Now, the in-demand actor has several projects in the works, but none are more anticipated than “Little Ashes”, an indie flick about surrealist artist Salvador Dalí. Thankfully, the movie looks much better than Rob’s mustache, and advance buzz is building. Soon enough, the world will know if RPattz is truly a wunderkind or a one-hit wonder.
Less than three months to go till Little Ashes is released in the U.S. Mark your calendar!.. March 27th, 2009.
This is a clip that shows Rob in the role of Richard in The Summer House, set for release this April. And before you watch it, read his character description and tell me you don’t want to see it now:
He sees himself as a lover, as a pop figure, something of a curious cross between Bob Dylan and Mick Jagger. He is the kind of boy who will hang around looking pitiful and hoping his moodiness will attract girls, which it does. If thwarted he will turn nasty in an instant, and does. He wants Jane to feel sorry for him for making the mistake of giving her up. He is desperate for her, but he is the wrong boy, he is an ‘unsuitable boy’.
We’re very excited for Rob, with so many projects coming up for him this year. And you can be sure we’ll keep you updated on the latest news on all of them.
This interview with Rob was conducted during the Twilight Promotional Tour in the U.S. last November. In it, he talks about the first time he really obsessed over a part, a fan that turned up at one of his appearances wearing a picture of his best friend on her shirt (you remember her), and how trying to get away from a near riot situation in Mexico, turned into quite a hilarious story to tell. (which he does.. in this interview). And at the very end he gives a shout out to Austin, Texas (thanks Rob!) while mentioning one of his favorite films.
Crissie from Auckland, just let us know that Rob is featured in the February Issue of Creme Magazine. She says it’s a Twilight Collector’s Issue that contains two posters of Rob.
Joann let us know about a new poll that E!Online is running. It asks which stars fans are looking forward to see more of in 2009? Rob is of course included in the mix:
Are you sufficiently Pattisfied or thirsting for even more R.Pattz reports in the new moon year?
The UK’s Female First At The Movies, just posted its review for Twilight. And guess who gets all the attention:
However it’ s the performance of Robert Pattinson that has really caught the imagination of the film’s core teenage audience and a star has well and truly been born he really is one to watch over the next year as he delivers a great performance as the tortured and lonely Edward.
AlloCine has recently posted video interviews with Rob and Kristen, presumably done when they were in Paris promoting Twilight. We get to hear more details about Rob pulling his groin during the filming of the ballet scene. We can’t wait for the DVD extras - the outtake that Kristen describes sounds hilarious! Rob’s part of the interview starts at 1:50.
Rob also talks about his preparation to get into character by not talking to anyone for almost two months: Read More »
This is an interview Rob did with the Australian Press before Twilight came out, just posted on YouTube. He answers several questions, including how similar he is to Edward.. not much, according to him. And at around 6:04, check out the part where he talks about the hype, and within a month people moving on to the next big thing. It’s been a month. We have a feeling that it’s gonna a be a little bit more than that.
Vale From Twilight Poison, shared with us two videos, of Rob in Germany last month. But be warned it is a little frustrating, because whenever he’s answering the questions, the voice of the German translator takes over after a few seconds. Still, there are some bits in there that are good.
So we thought we’d do a wrap, of some of the news articles Rob is mentioned in around the world.
We begin in London where he’s the main attraction, when Twilight is mentioned as the Pick Of The Week in the UK’s Guardian:
For the young, alienated and hormonal, this could be the defining romantic saga of the era, as impossibly handsome Robert Pattinson abstains from sinking his fangs into virginal Kristen Stewart.
From “impossibly handsome” in London, to loveless in India. The Press Trust of India is among dozens of sites and publications that picked up the article we brought you earlier this week, where Rob admits he’s never been in love.
“I’ve never really fallen in love, but I try to be as romantic as possible”
And finally, the story that’s been getting a lot of attention including here in the U.S., is Rob talking to British OK! magazine about how much he struggled with wearing contact lenses for Twilight:
I was wearing them for three months constantly and my eyes never ever accepted them! It took me 20 minutes per eye every single day and I ended up having to literally fold it into my eyeball.”
Jessica and Joann let us know about an award Rob is up for over at Shineon-media.com. He’s nominated for 2008 Celebrity of the Year. You can vote up to 20 times a day through Monday morning, so mark your calendar and vote as many times as you can!
We’ve gotten quite a few emails regarding this supposedly “official” MySpace profile. IT IS A FAKE. (This Facebook profile is also fake.)
This is an email from the administrators at Robert Pattinson Online, whose information and banner are being used in the profile:
We’ve been trying to tell people that it’s NOT us, and it isn’t Rob. They’ve stolen things from our site (ex: the bio on the myspace was taken from our site).. PLEASE try and spread the word that it is NOT us, and it is NOT Rob.
PLEASE do not give out your personal information to ANYONE claiming to be Rob! This is so dangerous and we do not want any of our visitors to be victims of identity theft (or worse).
A good rule of thumb: wait for us to give official confirmation before believing anyone who claims to be Rob. We will be speaking to Rob’s management about this so that they are also aware of the situation.
I don’t know about you, but there’s something very weird about someone like syndicated columnist Liz Smith talking about Rob. But we welcome the news regardless.. thanks Fox News!
While we can’t wait to see Rob in ‘Little Ashes’, it appears it will be a double treat this spring for his fans. The Summer House has now gotten the green light for release in April. Rob’s character is named Richard. If you want to learn more about the movie, go to its web site. Pattinson Online of course will also keep you updated on any new developments about the film.
This is a really good interview with Rob, that was also just posted on YouTube. It was part of the Twilight Promotional Tour overseas. In it, he talks once again about how he’s attracted to “crazy” girls and maybe nerds.. he doesn’t sound too convinced. Rob also tries out some pick-up lines, and then talks about why you”ll never catch him serenading a girl (I hear the sighs of disappointment already).
So just a few days ago, we brought you some new pictures from the artist on artist interview that Rob did with Hayley Williams for MySpace. Well you might want to check out that interview again, after you read what Hayley had to say about Rob on Paramore’s LiveJournal:
speaking of edward… or rob, in real life… i am laughing out loud at all the people online saying we are into each other. of course the video “interview” was a bit awkward. how would you like to meet someone you’ve seen on your tv for three months in a small, dark room set up like some kind of a date with three cameras in your face? hahah it was hilarious. i could tell rob felt the same way… as if we were really going to have some type of “candle-lit” conversation! we made fun out of it though and i thought he was a really nice dude… weeee.
In this interview that was just posted on YouTube, Rob talks about his fans and the bond they share with Twilight. But the best moment comes at about 1:30, when he talks about how he learned all about fame, from walking the Red Carpet for Harry Potter.
DJ Whoo Kid recently posted videos of his radio interview with Robert on Sirius Radio’s Hollywood Saturdays. Rob looks nice and scruffy with his beard and appears appropriately bemused by his interviewer. The show aired November 22, 2008 on Sirius Channel 45. We cleaned it up a bit for you to enjoy.
Kid and Rob talk about being glad he didn’t do Lost Boys Part 2, special effects, climbing up trees, and working with Catherine Hardwicke and Kristen Stewart.
Portrait Magazine, just did an interview with Rob’s close friend and musician Sam Bradley, who co-wrote ‘Never Think’ with him. In it, Sam is asked why his version, is so different than the one Rob sings in Twilight:
The original version is just sort of bits and pieces of when we were writing it. So, no, there’s no real original version. What it is, is we wrote a song… I came back to Canada, and kind of switched it up a little bit for myself. Melodically, what we originally wrote is probably closer to my version. But Rob, when he plays music, he’s really in touch with what he’s doing, so he plays a song differently every time. Any song, it’ll never sound the same. It’s really cool, he’s really in the moment. So the recording of Never Think that he did will never sound the same again, which is kind of interesting. Lyrically, though, it’s similar.
So how different are the two versions? Here’s Rob’s interpretation, for the Twilight Soundtrack. And as my New Year’s treat to you, a Pattinson Online Exclusive. I got the chance to be at Sam’s sold out New Year’s Eve performance in Vancouver. Here’s his version of ‘Never Think’ (Too Far Gone).
Shannon over at the Little Ashes Promotional Blitz Project, let us know about an exclusive interview they did with actress Marina Gatell. In it, she mentions the bond between the main stars of the film, which of course include Rob as Dali:
It was an amazing experience we all came together, the four of us, we’d all done bits but now we’re all working, I mean look at Robert. I don’t know…it was a really interesting experience. We all talked a lot, and we walked around Barcelona. I mean we were really busy but it was beautiful. Also for me, I’m from Barcelona, so it was interesting to see it through a foreigner’s eyes.
Gatell also gives us a more in-depth view of what we can expect to see, when Rob plays Dali. She describes how a love triangle develops between her character and Rob’s, revolving around artist Federico Garcia Lorca:
Because when there was this fight [for Lorca's attention] between Dalí and her, she wasn’t loving him. She was observing his movements to see if he loved her. So she wanted to face the reality and see what is going on between them. I think for a bit she doesn’t love Federico but then after the situation [between her, Lorca and Dalí] then yes she loves him again.
If you want to learn more about “the situation” she’s talking about, and details about Rob’s role in the film as we count down to the movie’s release this March, click here.
